Metal Door Print

These prints were a mix of two print methods these are monoprint and drypoint. Drypoint is were you scratch a design into a piece of acetate. As seen in the pictures I was experimenting with different layers of colours. This print is about the places teenagers hang out at.

This was the acetate I scratched the design into.

Print Elective

The theme we got for our two week print elective was 'Urban'. I was looking at places teenagers hang out at, the marks they leave and the hobbies they have. Graffiti and skateboarding are part of their urban culture. The prints I made over the the last two weeks were based on photographs which I took myself. 

 

These were the four most important photographs which helped me throughout the two weeks. The next posts will show the images of my finished prints. I made three different drypoints which I mixed with monoprints. I also made a wood block print.

My Print Studio Wall

:) This is how my studio wall looks like at the moment. Today the print tutors came into our studio and told us the plans for next week. They also showed us some prints that the first years last year made.

Those are the post card size prints that were made last year. Some are very abstract and colourfull and some very detailed. Each print is completely different and all ideas were based on photographs but not directly copied from it.

More Monoprints !!!

At the moment I am loving print. It is so much fun and I find it very addictive as I keep wanting to try and experiment more with colours and layers. It is exciting to see how the finished piece develops. Last Tuesday and Thursday I used the workshop all day trying out different ways to print the same image. I used an image that wasn't too hard to create and it relates to the theme "Urban".

A New Semester

Hello again!! The first semester is already over and a new one has just started today. I'm so happy all the stress over the assessments is finally over and now I will be able to concentrate on just one subject for the next two weeks, which is print. Today was a demonstration day about the things we will be doing during print in the next two weeks. The theme we got is 'Urban' and we already got homework on Friday to have ten pictures which we hung up on our walls today. In the following two weeks we will be looking at Monorprint and Drypoint which are both print processes. I am familiar with monoprints but not drypiont, which is when you scratch into acetate. I'm looking forward to the next two weeks of print.

I think these pictures are related to the theme 'urban' as these are places in the city where teenagers hang out at. Before college, my friends and me used to also spend our time at these places and sometimes still do: So the things I am focusing at is not graffiti, but more about the run down places where teenagers meet. 

Slowly getting more work done

Happy New Years everyone! :) . Sadly because of Christmas and New Years I didn't get as much work done as I hoped but I did manage to finish one part of the stop motion. Although there is one problem which occurred when doing it on movie maker, the pictures take too long to load. The reason could be that I just put up too many photographs which have to be shown in a  very short period of time. Despite that, I still plan on showing it to my tutors during my assessment as I put much work into it and I learned from my mistakes.
